If you have paid attention to my weekly Fridays with Fisher lately, you’ll recall that Michael Florio and I offered in-person Care Solutions “training” meetings in New Jersey and Massachusetts. If you were able to join us, we thank you and hope that you were able to walk away with an idea or two.
Last week, I shared a few points that we stressed during our first round of meetings. This week I want to share a couple more.
One of the most “head turning” statements that I made involved not just our underwriting approach, but our willingness to work with you to try to find a solution. I paraphrased the great Rolling Stones and said:
“You can’t always get what you want, but you can get what you need.”
In the scope of my usage, it means simply this – you may not be able to qualify for an Asset Care policy offering lifetime benefits due to health considerations, but that does not diminish the need for a long term care solution. And, our underwriters will automatically pivot to look at other solutions such as a limited duration solution or Annuity Care. And, remember, Asset Care can be issued to table 8.
Another quote that I threw out was:
“Why do we show lifetime benefits, joint policies, and older ages in examples? Well, it is because we can.”
Taking that one step further – those are some of the elements of OneAmerica’s Care Solutions that separate us from the rest of the asset-based / hybrid / linked benefit carriers.
