For the past month, I’ve shared with you the enhancements to the OneAmerica Financial Asset Care underwriting process called Flex. If you want more, here is a link to last week’s FWF.
Flex underwriting is intended to make the process quicker. The ideal way to do this is submitting the application via eApp. Here is a second helpful hint.
Here is another helpful hint to improve the process.
Any time that you have an underwriting concern, submit a Pre-Underwriting Inquiry (PUI) using the PUI Submission Request Form.
It’s a simple process that allows you to determine:
- Your client’s insurability
- What product(s) and rider(s) may be available
- Your follow-up conversation with your client
Within 24 hours of submission, you will hear from a OneAmerica Financial Care Solutions underwriter with guidance. Remember, this is only a tentative offer based upon the limited information that is provided by the PUI.
Here are a few more hints for you tom improve the quality of the PUI assessment:
- Before submitting, you should triage the case by referring to the Ineligible Impairments for Asset Care and/or Ineligible Impairments for Annuity Care list including a review of the build chart.
- Using the Care Solutions Process Guide or by contacting your internal sales partner, for conditions that might necessitate a 6 month wait.
- The client’s age, gender, height, and weight must be submitted.
- Obtain list of medications including dosages and frequencies.
- If the PUI is a result of a decline from another carrier, include the declination letter.
Our objective is to make the underwriting process as quick as possible. What we have found is a little work up front can improve the overall experience.
